Description
This is a former possession of my father, who was a calligraphy instructor at a university and also a researcher of calligraphy and stationery.
This Shexian inkstone is a popular Taiping Youxiang (Peaceful Elephant) inkstone among Shexian inkstones, and its impressive large size, weighing 1,878g, is suitable for both practical use and appreciation.
Elephants have long been symbols of good fortune, wisdom, and strength, and the Taiping Youxiang pattern is a cherished auspicious motif representing world peace, family prosperity, and descendant prosperity.
It comes with a dedicated rosewood box, is in good condition, and I believe it to be a highly valuable item for collectors.
◎Inkstone dimensions: 206mm x 135mm x 27mm
