Description
The doll's soft modeling, achieved through unglazed firing and coloring, its diverse yet subdued color palette, and its round, cheerful expression are just a few of its countless merits.
It is said that Hakata Dolls originated from dolls made as a hobby by Masakichi Soshichi, a tile craftsman during the construction of Fukuoka Castle. After the Meiji era, these dolls received high acclaim at international expositions such as the Paris Exposition, becoming known as representative Japanese dolls.
The smooth, white skin and alluring expression make this a very charming item.
