Vintage 1977 Wayfarers Cookbook Girl Scout Outdoor Campfire Recipes Song Book

Up for sale is an original 1977 edition of The Wayfarer's Cookbook. This rare piece of scouting history was compiled directly by the Wayfarers, a specialized organization of adult Girl Scouts founded in 1945 dedicated to outdoor education and leader training. First created in 1948 to teach bookbinding and outdoor campfire cooking to Girl Scout Leaders, this rare manual was never sold in public bookstores. Proceeds from its low-volume internal print runs went straight to the Campership Fund to send young girls to summer camps. This copy features its iconic, original top ribbon binding and a rustic textured canvas cover bearing a vintage presentation inscription: To Freda & Fred, Love, Helen, Feb. '77. Inside, it features hand-drawn illustrations, classic pioneer skillet and foil recipes (like Apple in Foil and Candied Apples), and the full sheet music and lyrics for the traditional campfire song, Wayfarer's Grace. Condition Details: - 100% original artifact from 1977. - Interior pages are tightly bound, clean, and free of kitchen stains, tears, or water damage. - The cloth cover shows authentic light age-toning and minor spotting, highlighting its vintage charm. A highly sought-after crossover piece for collectors of rare vintage cookbooks, mid-century scouting history, or Girl Scout memorabilia. Ships flat with rigid cardboard protection.
