1940s-50s Enesco Japan Porcelain Bowl - Hand‑Painted Floral Motif - Gold Trim
Enesco Japan
This decorative bowl features a hand‑painted floral design showcasing peonies and chrysanthemums. The rim is finished with hand‑applied gold trim, and the underside bears the original Enesco Designed Giftware Japan label along with the handwritten mark 手描き (tegaki, “hand‑painted”), indicating artisan‑applied decoration. This piece reflects the postwar export era, when Japanese manufacturers produced finely decorated porcelain for Western giftware markets, blending traditional motifs with contemporary color palettes. Dimensions: approx. 3½″ tall × 3⅞″ diameter across the mouth. Very good vintage condition. No cracks or chips. Crazing to the glaze consistent with age and material.
