★ Unused Fukui Eisho-do Takashima Kohan Stone Inkstone, Made by Fukui Taiseki, in a Wooden Box

《Product Description》

Unused Fukui Eisho-do Takashima Kohan Stone Inkstone, made by Fukui Taiseki, in a wooden box.
The back of the inkstone is engraved with the inscription Takashima Kohan Stone, Made by Taiseki.

Takashima Kohan Stone from Omi (present-day Takashima City, Shiga Prefecture) is produced from Mt. Amida in the Azuchi River and is named for the spots that resemble a tiger.

Kohan stone is neither too hard nor too soft, maintaining an appropriate particle size for ink and holding water well, making it a favorite among many literati and calligraphers. It was once presented to Emperor Taisho upon his enthronement.

Unfortunately, in the Showa era, the Kohan stone vein was depleted, and it remains so to this day.

As mentioned above, inkstones made of the extremely rare Kohan stone are highly sought after by collectors.

This item, as shown in the image, is roughly finished but is a large 1363g, with beautiful stone patterns flowing on the ink pooling area. It also features a carved groove for a brush rest, indicating a meticulously crafted piece.

As shown in the image, it comes in a high-quality wooden box with a grain resembling mulberry wood.

Are you confident in your calligraphy with flowing strokes? Doesn't your skill beckon?
