Victorian Uranium Custard Glass Vase Blue Rigaree Attrib Stevens Williams c1890

Beautiful antique Victorian uranium glass vase featuring an opaque custard-white body with pale blue applied rigaree decoration and handle. The graceful hand-blown form has a softly waisted body, ruffled rim, and elaborate hot-applied blue glass trails spiraling around the vase. Under UV light, the custard body fluoresces vivid green, while the pale blue applied decoration does not. Based on its late-19th-century custard uranium glass, applied blue rigaree, and close comparison with documented examples, this vase is attributed to Stevens & Williams of Stourbridge, England, circa 1890. Similar techniques were also used by other English and Bohemian glasshouses, so the attribution is presented cautiously.
