Vintage 1960 Elis Kauppi Kupittaan Kulta Finland 813H Silver Modernist Brooch
Kupittaan Kulta
Vintage 1960 Elis Kauppi for Kupittaan Kulta Finnish modernist silver brooch. Features a sculptural elongated form with a recessed/concave oval center and dark accent lines near the tapered ends. A beautiful example of Finnish Mid-Century Modern jewelry design. The brooch retains its Finnish precious-metal hallmarks, allowing it to be identified and precisely dated: • Kupittaan Kulta maker mark – identifies the Finnish jewelry workshop co-founded by designer Elis Kauppi. • 813H – indicates .813 silver, or 81.3% silver content. This is genuine silver but is not 925 sterling. • Finnish control/assay mark – official precious-metal hallmark. • Turku locality mark – identifies Turku, Finland, where Kupittaan Kulta was based. • G7 date mark – Finnish date code corresponding to 1960. Elis Kauppi was an important figure in Finnish modernist jewelry and co-founded Kupittaan Kulta in 1945. This example is an all-silver design with an intentionally recessed center rather than a missing stone. Condition: Very good vintage condition with surface scratches, patina/oxidation and small darkened areas consistent with age and use. Pin and clasp are intact. Lightly cleaned with a microfiber cloth only and has not been aggressively polished. Please review photos closely for condition and hallmark details.
