Vintage Hand Carved Wood Ship Model Primitive Folk‎ Art Naval Decor

A hand-carved wood ship model, entirely shaped and detailed by hand rather than painted or assembled from a kit. The deck, bridge, and gun-style details are all carved directly into the wood, giving it a wonderful primitive, folk art quality. Bare, worn wood with real age and handling wear. Unmarked, with an unknown maker and no confirmed manufacturer or contract origin, this is offered as a piece of vintage folk art rather than an attributed collectible. I showed this to my brother-in-law, a former Navy officer, and his first guess was that the light weight was intentional, so the model would float if dropped overboard. I have not tested that theory, but I love that it is even plausible. Measures approximately 15 inches long by 2 inches wide. Very lightweight at about 3 ounces.
